The Wellness Mega Centre

I don’t know whose stupid idea it was to move house in the middle of winter but we did. It was as stressful as everyone said it would be. Fortunately, I discovered Albany Mega Centre and it had everything I needed to look after the health and the wellbeing of my family and pets. I’m now calling it the Albany Wellness Mega Centre.

With Jon’s promotion earlier in the year we made the decision to finally quit renting and buy our first house. House prices haven’t been this attractive in a while and mortgage rates can supposedly only go in one direction from here – down. We searched for months before finding the right place in Northcross. Only minutes from the beach, the supermarket, the shopping centre, and the motorway, it was the perfect first home for us. Before the euphoria of a new place set in, the reality of packing and shifting hit hard.

We worked for a week get everything ready for the move. And on the big day, the rain, the wind, and the hail made the last few steps across the threshold a Homer-like odyssey. As a result, the first week in the house saw each of us feeling tired, stressed, and unwell.

Jon was sick first. Initially, we thought his aching joints were a result of all that lifting and shifting. It slowly developed into a head cold, that had him holed up in bed for days. I ventured down to the Albany Mega Centre for the first time and quickly found one of the biggest Chemist Warehouses I’d ever seen. I told the pharmacist about Jon’s symptoms, and they gave me good medicine and advice. Within a few days, I had Jon back up and unpacking the last of the boxes.

Ellis, our 10-month-old daughter, who has always been a good sleeper, was unsettled from the first night we moved in. She was fighting her daytime sleep and then waking up at least once through the night. We tried everything but she wouldn’t get her to settle. My all-knowing mother took us down to The Baby Factory at Albany Mega Centre. Together we found the Summer Infant Slumber Buddies Elephant, a toy that makes soothing sounds and shines stars on the sky. We also bought a soft merino snuggle blanket. Ellis loved them both and immediately she got the unbroken night of sleep that she, and the rest of the family, needed.

At the same time as Ellis’ sleepless nights, Rufus our 2-year-old Cavoodle was also showing signs of being unsettled. He was wandering around the house barking at things that weren’t there, scratching the furniture and even peeing on the carpet. Another trip down to Albany Mega Centre saw me and Rufus at Animates, talking to a very knowledgeable shop assistant. She recommended the Kazoo Peacock Dog Bed, a calming bed designed to make anxious dogs feel safe and secure. It did look comfy, and Rufus took it instantly. Even Ellis liked it, snuggling in next to Rufus.

Within a few weeks, it was me who needed the well-being support. The bad weather, the string of family ailments, and the constant drudgery of unpacking had me screaming for fresh air. The first stop was back down the hill to Albany Mega Centre to visit Pack n Pedal. There was nowhere to ride a bike at our rental but there were places to go in all directions at Northcross. The shop assistant helped me navigate the many bike options and even helped me put the new bike in the back of the car. The next day, with Jon looking after Ellis and Rufus, I went out for a bike ride. The exercise invigorated me physically and emotionally.

It’s been a rough few weeks settling into the new house and I don’t think I would have got through if the Albany Mega Centre wasn’t so close. They had everything to deal with our string of health and well-being issues. There is no doubt that it’s my local well-being mega centre.
